Grand Canyon or Bust Part 3: The Shrine

I hiked up to the Shrine here in Bisbee via the City Trail and Zacatecas Canyon. Speaking of the Shrine, what an abomination and why does the so-called smartest primate feel compelled to pee all over Mother Nature like some dim-witted dog marking his territory? Even the Graffiti Gods are shaking their collective heads in disgust.

After Saturday’s strenuous hike to 9,400, I opted for something a little easier, especially considering tomorrow is the Silver Peak hike. So, only 5 miles at 3.1 mph and only 1,200 feet of elevation gain.

Grand Canyon or Bust Part 2: Miller Peak

First Grand Canyon training hike (Miller Peak) was good practice for the Bright Angel GC trail, about the same distance, 9.6 miles vs. 10 for the GC. Miller has greater elevation gain: 650 ft/mile; the GC is roughly 500 ft/mile. Lungs held up at 9,400 feet.
