Grand Canyon Part 3: The Bright Angel Trail

The morning of our hike out started hopefully, with the sun rising. It quickly turned overcast, however, and somewhat muted the Canyon's grandeur. The Bright Angel trail rises less precipitously than the South Kaibab, and the views aren't as dramatic, but the striations of two billion years of geologic sediment and orogeny (or, for you Biblical literalists out there, meticulously designed in the blink of an eye 6,000 years ago by God to throw us off our game and test our faith), are pretty stunning. The hike itself wasn't too challenging. 10 miles, 4,380 feet of elevation gain, and a little over four hours to reach the Rim.
