The Blackett's Ridge hike is known for it's false summits, and indeed it has more than dictator Hair Shitler has had wives—five all told. Beautiful day for a hike, and this normally crowded hike had few other hikers today, perhaps a dozen. Bear Creek was back to pre-rain levels, which bodes well for our epic 18-mile hike on Wednesday, up Bear Canyon to Seven Falls, around Thimble Peak to Sabino Canyon and Phoneline back to the trailhead near the Sabino Canyon visitor's center.
My goal on this strenuous hike is always to do it in two hours, which I achieved once. Today I clocked in at 2:10 and it wasn't the ascent that slowed me down; it was the descent as I was very careful not to fall as that would be a disaster with my new shoulder. So, I slowed down like an old man, some would say a wise old man. I did fall on this hike previously when I was rushing down the trail, and an epically stupid story happened because of it.
Great weather today, mid sixties and a bit of wind, but clear skies.
